Former Barker School captain, World Schools and World University debating champion, Bo Seo, will speak about ideas from his recently-published book, Good Arguments in conversation with Barker's Director of Academic Writing and Oratory, Mr Andrew Hood. Similar to his appearance at this year’s Sydney Writers Festival, Bo will talk about the issues raised in his book – both how he discovered a love of debating that gave him a voice as a shy, conflict-averse child and also how the central elements of good debate – fact finding, reason and persuasion – can build consensus rather than division.

There will be a chance to ask questions at the end to follow Bo’s career through Harvard, the Financial Review and back to Harvard where he is taking the Juris Doctor degree.

Bo will be working with the Barker College secondary debaters in the afternoon and this session focusses on his book and is suitable for students, parents, teachers, and guests.
