Join us on 8 November at 6:30pm in Rhodes Theatre to learn more about Barker's Humanitarian Programs at its first-ever public event!

As part of the evening, you will hear an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation by Patricia Garcia AO, humanitarian and human rights advocate with over two decades of experience in conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Sudan, South Sudan, Bosnia and Burma. Patricia has dedicated her life to supporting and advocating for refugees and internally displaced people, having worked with various NGOs and UN agencies including Oxfam, AustCare and the UNHCR.

Patricia will be speaking on the topic of "International Human Rights Under Pressure: What can Barker do?". This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, making Patricia's presentation a significant moment for reflection and action. Her expertise and dedication to promoting human rights and social justice will shed light on the challenges we face in today's globalised world and how Barker can play a pivotal role in shaping a better future.

Ms Julia West, the Director of Humanitarian Programs at Barker, will also outline Barker’s Humanitarian Program and its future direction. A special publication on refugee education will also be launched on the evening.
