The theme for Reconciliation Week 2023 is “Be a Voice for Generations”. The survivors from the Kinchela Boys Home live this mantra through their work in Truth Telling and their education program. In this session, survivors of the Stolen Generations and the notorious Kinchela Boys Home will share their personal stories of survival and the impact of intergenerational trauma. Truth telling for them is a form of healing, and their work is dedicated to improving the understanding of these impacts. They truly are a “Voice for Generations”. Participants are advised that the content covered is confronting. This session is targeted towards teachers and adult members of our community, rather than students. Barker students are invited to a lunch time event that is tailored to their needs and age.
