In 2024 Barker is partnering with leading relationships and consent education provider, Elephant Ed, to work with students, and on the evening of May 16th, with parents.

Elephant Ed provides age-appropriate consent and relationship education to hundreds of schools around Australia. Their workshops are evidence-based and mapped to State and National curriculum guidelines. Elephant Ed is endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider, and by the NSW Department of Education's Student Wellbeing as a quality-assured program in the external programs catalogue.

Throughout this year,  including during the day on Thursday 16 May, Elephant Ed will be running workshops with Barker College students. We are excited to offer an in-person evening session for parents to complement their work with the students, inform parents, and enable effective conversations and safe practices in the home.

The seminar will include the following key discussion points:

- Statistics and prevalence of sexual assault

- Legalities surrounding consent

- Avenues to seek help

- Strategies to start the conversation at home

This workshop is not for students and is most appropriate for parents of students in Year 4 to Year 12. Parents or teachers of children outside this age range are also warmly welcomed to the event.

Can't make it this time? Other 2024 opportunities for similar instruction include:

- On the same page: A special webinar for Year 7 Families - April 2 2024

- Adolescent Cybersafety in 2024: With David Smith of YSafe - August 5 2024
