The Barker College wellbeing team, the Head of Middle School, and Middle School Deans, are inviting all parents of students in Years 6-9 to come to an important seminar on important parent-child conversations in the Middle School Years.

We partner with the organisation YourChoicez to work with our students, and our families. For example, they will be running workshops with every student in Year 8 and 9 in late November. It is hoped that a collaborative approach from school, from external experts, and from parents at home with best support our students through the tricky middle years. We hope you can be there to be a part of it!

On the evening of Monday 10 November, David Kobler will provide research and guidance to parents to support conversations between Years 6-9 students and their parents on various topics to do with respectful relationships. These include healthy friendships, pornography, consent, sexual decision-making, ethics, love, and dating. These can be difficult topics to navigate but are essential in helping young people to develop healthy relationships benefiting both themselves and those around them.

More details from YourChoicez can be found on their website.

Questions can be directed to Lisa Chalmers, Director of Health and Wellbeing at Barker College, or for Year 7-9 families, the relevent year group Dean.

This event is not suitable for students who instead will recive separate instruction at school.
