6:30pm, Monday 20 March, The Piazza (Barker College Junior School)

The fourth year of the Barker Journey research project is the first part of a story about beginnings and endings, of looking to the future and at the past. It presents a narrative centred on the Barker Journey cohort, now in Year 6, completing their primary schooling. The perspective on learning they bring to this year’s study is informed by reflections on their time in primary school, and what it has meant for them to be a student in 2022. What it might be like as a student in secondary school also emerged in their commentary about their experiences at school as Year 6 students. It is a commentary that extends the Year 6 story into 2023.

After 4 years of interviews with the class of 2028, Dr Matthew Hill and Dr Timothy Scott of the Barker Institute, lead investigators in this study, will be sharing their findings of the Year 3-6 Journey.

The evening’s presentation will be of interest to any parents of children in Year 3-6 currently on their own Barker Junior School Journey, and parents of children in Year 7 2023 as this is a study they are involved in, and teachers and researchers curious about the role of school in the 21st century.
